Two conversations of interest yesterday. In the first, the claim was made that Ithaca is kind of an economic oasis, somehow sheltered from the more intense woes both near and far.....true to a point, in my opinion, but there are still nearly 7 times as many foreclosures advertised in the legal section of the Journal as I remember seeing in the past. The second was with a past client that I sold a house to years ago.....struggling to make the payments, foreclosure notice started arriving in the Fall, not realizing that he/she could sell the property, he/she just let it happen. If you are in trouble or think you may be soon, you can sell, sometimes it's a "short sale", but at least you don't necessarily loose everything including your credit rating.
